Global Climate Conference Approves Deal, Bolivia Protests

Delegates at the end of a 2-week U.N. climate conference held in Cancun, Mexico, have approved a modest plan to combat global warming.

More than 190 nations approved the agreement Saturday, which includes a multi-billion dollar fund to administer assistance to poor nations.

Bolivia was the only country to object to the deal, saying the agreement does not go far enough to curb climate change.

Decisions at the U.N. climate talks are typically taken by consensus.

Mexican Foreign Secretary Patricia Espinosa said consensus does not "mean that one country has the right to veto" decisions supported by everyone else.
